As January comes to an end, it is time to take a moment and assess the progress of my resolution. As you may remember, I talked here about what goal I set for myself this year, and that I wanted to use yoga as a tool to regain my focus. While I am pretty sure that that has not happened yet, I am quite happy to report that out of the 31 days of January, I only had 3 in which I didn't do any yoga and no salutations. All 3 times I went for a short nap and when I woke up it was already past midnight, and this excessive sleeping culminated this past weekend with 28 hours of sleep in 48 hours. And I still had to force myself to wake up Monday morning. I am blaming it all on a severe reduction in my caffeine intake, but more on that another time.
To summarise, in January I:
- went on 2 mountain hikes and one forest walk
- went to gym twice (a bit of a disappointment, but will try to rectify it this month)
- went for a run on the promenade
- did 420 salutations
- attempted to sign up for a 6k trail run, that was (un)fortunately full - I was very keen, but to be realistic, I don't think I could have done it
It is definitely not a lot, but I did spend a bit more time outdoors than I usually do, and I feel very good about that. I neglected the gym quite a lot and even though it's been a kind summer so far, we had a couple days with over 40°C temperatures and I used that as an excuse not to work out, together with a slightly injured ankle and a couple of migrains.
With February being the month during which we will be moving house, I really hope not to slack and at least visit the gym more and I am aiming for 600 salutations and 2000 squats (just to spice things up). I might also attempt to see how many salutations I can do in one session (currently I am at 50). I will keep you posted.
